"Upon graduating with a first-class honours degree in Visual Communication from Wolverhampton Uni, I landed a job as a junior designer at a communications agency that produced regular newsletters, magazines and internal comms for companies that didn’t have in-house writers and designers. Editorial design became my passion and I loved my job so much that I stayed there for 15 years.

But after having three babies, I decided to go self-employed in 2014."

"Most of my work comes from word-of-mouth or from old colleagues who have also branched out on their own and need a designer. I’ve always had enough to keep me busy, and love that I can (pretty much) pick and choose when I work.

I’m doing less magazine work now - it’s smaller jobs like logos, branding, leaflets and pull-up banners - but I’m still dreaming about landing a big brochure or annual report someday soon!"

"Work was quieter in 2020-21 due to the pandemic so, when it picked up again this year, I decided to take stock of the company and think about how I wanted to take it forward.

Now all my girls are in school full-time, I have a little more time on my hands!"

"The host mentioned how Vanda was the person to go to for branding photography, and that sparked something in me.

I decided it might be nice to try a photoshoot for my business. And when I heard that Vanda likes working with female leaders who hate having their photos taken - I realised she’d be the perfect photographer for me."

"So far, I’ve used the photos on my social media posts. And one thing I’m quite proud of is that I finally have my own website. I have loads more pictures up my sleeve to use as and when the time comes. 

I love all the photos Vanda took of me. And I love having them show to everyone the face of Harrison Design and Consulting and making the company feel more personable and approachable. After all, the company is just me.

MY BEAUTIFUL BANNER IS DESIGNED AND PRINTED BY RUTH 

In March 2022 I exhibited at the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and Ruth has created this beautiful banner for me.

As you can imagine the expo was full of banners but the majority had a bad design with lots of text.

I had so many nice compliments about mine and I am so happy that I decided to choose Ruth to design it for me. 

She listened to what I tried to achieve with my banner and gave me a couple of options to choose from. The turnover was quick and the quality is exceptional.
